Our design and expert technical support will assist you with developing a (Grade C) type Onboard Waste Management System that will meet all the Australian Standards, and; exceed all local Government and Environmental Regulations in relation to Faecal Coliforms discharge.
We can adapt our Onboard Waste Treatment System to your existing marine or domestic type appliance or you can purchase your new complete system with us.

By 31 December 2009 all recreational and commercial ships must meet the following requirements;
Nil discharge waters for untreated sewage for all ships (other than a declared ship)
The nil discharge waters for untreated sewage from a ship (other than a declared ship) are as follows:
From 1 July 2004 to 31 December 2009
1. Prohibited discharge waters.
2. Smooth waters.
3. Hervey Bay waters or northern Moreton Bay waters within 1852 m (or 1 nm) of any of the following-
a. aquaculture fisheries resources;
b. a reef;
c. the mean low water mark of the mainland;
d. if a ship has 16 or more persons onboard-the mean low water mark of an island.
4. Open waters within 1852 m (or 1 nm) of-
a. aquaculture fisheries resources; or
b. if a ship has 16 or more persons onboard-i. a reef; or
ii. the mean low water mark of an island or the mainland.
From 1 January 2010
Further to the requirements listed above, the following additional nil discharge requirements for untreated sewage will also apply to all ships (other than a declared ship)
a. For all ships with 16 or more persons onboard, the discharge of untreated sewage will be totally prohibited in all Hervey Bay waters, northern Moreton Bay waters and open waters; and
b. For all ships with 7 to 15 persons onboard, the discharge of untreated sewage into all open waters will be totally prohibited within 1852 m (or 1 nm) of a reef or the mean low water mark of an island or the mainland.

Note 1: There is no additional precautionary discharge distance applied to the discharge of Grade A treated sewage. As such, Grade A treated sewage may be lawfully discharged in all waters outside prohibited discharge waters.
Note 2: There are currently no further amendments to the nil discharge requirements
Further to the requirements listed above, the following additional nil discharge requirements for untreated sewage will also apply to all declared ships--
a. If a declared ship has 16 or more persons onboard then the discharge of untreated sewage into open waters is prohibited; and
b. If a declared ship has 7 to 15 persons onboard then the discharge of untreated sewage into open waters is prohibited within 1852 m (or 1 nm) of a reef or the mean low water mark of an island or the mainland.
All other nil discharge requirements for both treated and untreated sewage from a declared ship will remain the same as those listed previously/above.
Additionally, a declared ship must not operate (which includes anchoring, berthing or mooring) in nil discharge waters unless the declared ship is fitted with a sewage holding device. A declared ship is taken not to be fitted with a sewage holding device unless a sewage holding device fitted to the ship is appropriate having regard to-
a. the person capacity of the ship prescribed under the Transport Operations (Marine Safety) Act 1994; and
b. the duration of the ship's journey in the nil discharge waters.
